Aikido is a dynamic, powerful and graceful martial art developed in the early 20th century that focuses on defensive techniques and traditional weapons. The Northwestern Aikido Club was founded in 1974 and is the oldest martial arts group on campus! Anyone who is interested in learning more about Aikido is welcome to join us any time during the academic year.

Practice Schedule (Fall 2024)

We are back for the Fall! Regular training resumes October 2nd. Our class times are Wednesday 6:00-8:00pm and Friday 6:00-8:00pm in Studio 1B of the Henry Crown Sports Pavilion. We usually take a short break at 7pm.

If you are not yet a club member and are interested in participating, or are just looking for more information, please contact us at info@nuaikido.org . Please join our listserv(NUAIKIDO for updates on our practice schedule and club announcements.

Please make sure you register for Aikido on IM leagues before participating in a practice. Also, the university requires that students complete a Health History Questioner to participate in any club or intermural sport. Click here to complete your HHQ. If you have questions about the HHQ or process, contact the Aikido Club’s athletic trainer Marcus Washington.

New students and observers are always welcome to stop by practice for more information.
