Hello everyone!

Classes will begin at Blomquist Gym on September 22nd at 5 45 pm. Afterwards, regular class sessions will resume mondays, wednesdays and fridays between 5 45 and 8 pm. Beginners are always welcome - just show up with loose clothing and an open mind for learning.

NU Aikido End-of-Quarter Announcements

Posted on 06/01/10

Hey everyone! Hope you had a great D Day and/or memorial day weekend!

Just a few things this time:

1. Club elections are coming up! - June 2
This Wednesday (June 2nd) we will be electing officers for next year! Please attend in order to have a say in your NU Aikido club cabinet!

2. Newsletter articles - ASAP
I am still taking submissions for the spring newsletter! Remember that these can be about anything pertaining to aikido even remotely. In the past, students have written about their first day in aikido, their first time experiencing a test, a recent seminar, how aikido has helped them in the class room or elsewhere, etc. Articles need not be long but they do need to be submitted ASAP so I can publish the newsletter before everyone leaves! E-mail me with your submissions!

3. End-of-Quarter outing - June 7
As usual, it's been a great quarter for the NU Aikido club. You guys have all worked very hard and it's really showing. So why not go out and have food and drink! This Monday (June 7) after class, we will be going out to a restaurant/pub! Please clear your busy end-of-quarter calendars and try to make it! Even if you cannot make the training on Monday, certainly attempt to come by at 8pm to join us for the outing.

4. Last Day of Training - June 9
This year just flew by. We're already coming to the end for this quarter and the '09-'10 school year here at Zanshinkan. Just a reminder that the last day of classes will be Wednesday June 9. Please make EVERY effort to attend as many classes between now and then. Aikido is a great way to take your mind off the stresses of finals even if only for one of the hour-long classes on a given day.

1. Monday, April 26 Class to be led by Moore Sensei
Moore Sensei is the director of Shinjinkai, the NU Aikido Club's parent dojo. He will be instructing our class on Monday April 26. Please make every effort to attend at least one of the two hours of class. I know mid-terms are coming; but, if you can spare at least one hour, you won't regret the experience! Class will take place at the usual place and at the usual time (Blomquist at 5:45). Please arrive promptly at 5:45p to set-up mats as quickly as possible!

Also, the club will be going out to Tommy Nevin's Restaurant and Pub after class for (free!) food! Please join us!

2. Club Dues are... due!
As many of you may already be aware, the Aikido club thrives on its members dues. Each quarter, we ask a meager $25 to help the club fund events like dinners (see above!) and to help the club afford equipment upkeep (like the new Jo and Bokken we just purchased!). Please submit your dues to an officer (Alex, Ted or Mert) by no later than April 30th.

That's all for now!

See you on the mats!

-Alex
